What Is a VIP Minibus? How It Differs from a Standard Minibus and a VIP Vehicle
A VIP minibus offers fewer but wider seats, upgraded interior equipment and comfort. We explain how it differs from a standard minibus and a VIP vehicle (van), and which journeys it suits.
A VIP minibus is a standard minibus whose interior has been redesigned with a focus on comfort. The number of seats is reduced, seats become wider and the interior is made quieter and more spacious. The aim is for a small number of passengers to get through a long or busy programme without getting tired.
What sets a VIP minibus apart from a standard minibus
- Fewer seats: A body that can take 16 passengers in a standard layout has fewer, wider seats in a VIP fit-out.
- Seat comfort: Reclining, wider seats with more space between them.
- Interior equipment: Depending on the vehicle, there may be extra lighting, screens, charging points, curtains or a meeting layout.
- Luggage: As there are fewer seats, more space may be available for luggage.
Equipment varies from vehicle to vehicle. When you get a quote, ask for the number of seats and the equipment in writing; asking for photos is also a good idea.
How many seats does a VIP minibus have?
There is no single answer; capacity is determined by the interior layout and limited to the number of seats on the registration. In VIP fit-outs the number of seats is lower than in a standard minibus. We explain how seat notation is read in this article.
VIP minibus or VIP vehicle (van)?
| VIP vehicle / van | VIP minibus | |
|---|---|---|
| Number of passengers | Few | More than a van |
| Interior space | Compact | Higher roof, room to move around standing |
| Best for | Meet-and-greet for a few people, business travel | Delegations, protocol and small group programmes |
| Agility in the city | High | Good |
Which journeys is it preferred for?
- Meet-and-greet programmes for foreign delegations and executives
- Several meetings and site visits in one day
- A separate vehicle at weddings for the bride’s and groom’s families or special guests
- Small groups setting off on long intercity journeys
When is a standard minibus enough?
For short city transfers, when budget is the priority and the number of passengers is close to the vehicle’s capacity, a standard minibus is usually enough. For choosing by group size, see our vehicle choice guide.
